Tiny Baby Knitting Pattern (2025)

Tiny Baby Knitting Pattern (1)

The instructions were translated with deep L. In case of errors or strange translations of terms please contact me. Check the schematic diagram if you are not sure about some stitches. As the German version Strickmuster Baby is updated more frequently, you can also translate it yourself. But be careful with the translation programs. The German “abstricken” (=“knit”) is often mistakenly translated as “cast off”.

The next 5 stitches belong to the left arm and are put aside on a safety pin.

The next 6 stitches form the back of the body and are also picked up on the circular needle.

The stitch in the middle of the front is placed on a safety pin (it will later be sewn together with the stitches knitted together in the middle of the back and forms the crotch).

The next 6 stitches belong to the left leg and are also put aside first. (They can also be placed on the same safety pin as the crotch stitches).

The 2 stitches in the middle of the back are set aside on a safety pin (they will be knitted together later and sewn together with the stitch in the middle of the front to form the crotch).

The last 4 stitches also belong to the right leg (back) and are also picked up on the circular needle.

Right leg, foot

The foot is shaped by first simply knitting straight in rows (instead of in rounds!) and “folding” the knitted piece. At the end, the shape is worked out further with the remaining yarn.

Row 35

Front: knit 1 stitch

Back: knit 1 stitch (it now becomes part of the front) and turn.

Row 36

Front: purl 2 stitches

Back: purl 1 stitch (it now becomes part of the front) and turn.

Row 37

Front: knit the 3 stitches and turn

Row 38

Front: purl 3 stitches and turn.

Round 39

Front side: knit 3 stitches.

Back: knit 2 stitches.

Round 40

Cut the thread approx. 10 cm long, fold the “foot” together and pull the thread through all the remaining stitches. Pull tight and continue shaping the foot by sewing.

Left leg

Round 27

Pick up all slipped stitches on a circular needle.

Back: Knit the first 2 slipped stitches together at the crotch and place them on hold again. Knit the next 4 stitches. Control: 4 stitches on the needle

Front: knit 1 stitch, increase 1 stitch, knit 1 stitch, the last stitch belongs to the crotch and is knit again. Control: 3 stitches on the needle

Round 28-40

Knit as for the right leg, remembering that you always start with the back instead of the front.

If the body is not yet full enough, you can fill it out a little. Then sew the stitches at the front and back together with the yarn that was used to start the left leg and sew up any gaps.

Left arm

Round 17

Front: knit 2 sts, back: knit 3 sts

Back: v 1 stitch, increase 1 stitch, knit 1 stitch. Control: 3 stitches

Round 24

Front: knit 2 sts, back: knit 3 sts

Round 25

Cut the yarn to a length of approx. 10 cm, thread all stitches through with the yarn and pull together, shape the wrist by sewing.

Right arm

Round 17-25

Pick up all slipped stitches on a circular needle. Work the right arm in the same way as the left arm, making sure that the back is knitted first.

Face

Embroider the eyes with a dark thread.

The nose is also embroidered on.

If desired, ears, a mouth and/or hair can also be embroidered on.
